Shlomi in Jerusalem and Shimon in Netanya - physical hardships do not hold them back from helping others

When asked about their reasons for volunteering at Yad Sarah, they give the same reply: The desire to help others. "My desire to help others guided me here, to Yad Sarah". Shlomi Sadeh sits behind a desk and by the computer at the equipment lending center in Jerusalem's Yad Sarah House and learns how to handle requests for rehab and medical equipment as quickly and efficiently as possible. People express their appreciation of Shlomi, who fulfills his volunteering mission while himself sitting in a wheelchair and coping with physical difficulties. Shlomi was injured during his army service; his sight and ability to walk were damaged due to a lack of oxygen during an operation he underwent to repair the damage. In spite of his difficulties, Shlomi has been adamant about giving to others who are in need. He does so with complete calm and a pleasant smile. In the same natural way, Shimon Ohayon speaks of his volunteering in the rehabilitation center at Netanya's Yad Sarah branch. Disabled by diabetes, Shimon takes for granted his giving to others: "I came to Yad Sarah in order to give, simply to give. I was born in Morocco… the diabetes did to me what it did. In the rehabilitation center, I lend a hand in cleaning and in doing whatever is needed to be done and whatever is possible to do in order to help. My family has been very supportive of my volunteering." Shlomi and Shimon – we salute you!
