At the heart of Yad Sarah House in Jerusalem is The Yad Sarah Experience. The newly refurbished visitor’s center is the backdrop for an exciting and moving tour lasting about two hours. Visitor’s will be impressed by a short movie relating the history of Yad Sarah – an inspiring tale of a young man starting out with a small dream and building it into an organization that operates with the unparalleled support of more than six thousand volunteers throughout the country. From comfortable seats in the spacious amphitheater, visitors can observe the crown jewel of Yad Sarah – the Equipment Lending Center. The center, staffed with caring and capable volunteers, assists those recovering from surgery, accident, or illness as well as elderly and disabled persons. From infant car seats and wheelchairs, walkers and oxygen machines, the lending center offers its equipment free of charge and without any bureaucratic hassle. One of our knowledgeable guides will then escort the group throughout Yad Sarah’s impressive headquarters, with stops at the Emergency Alarm Response Center, the Day Rehabilitation Center, and the DA`AT Medical Query Service, among others. Those visitors who would like to experience what it feels like to be a Yad Sarah volunteer can spend a half hour or so assembling medical equipment for our clients and working alongside veteran Yad Sarah volunteers. At the end of the tour, the group returns to the amphitheater for a short review and farewell. A lovely way of encountering The Yad Sarah Experience is through the Bar- and Bat-Mitzvah Program. Our regular tour is tailored to a younger audience incorporating a special volunteer experience with an overview of Yad Sarah’s activities and a discussion of the importance of giving back, in the spirit of “Tikkun Olam.” The group can conclude their customized program with a party complete with refreshments and gifts in one of our events rooms. For individuals and groups – advance registration requiredTel: (02) 644-4687 Email: lalil@yadsarah.org.il
