Yad Sarah Reaches Out to Help Muquadam
Meet Muquadam, a two-and-a-half-year-old boy from Tanzania. He came to Israel under the auspices of Save a Child’s Heart (SACH), an NGO that arranges vital operations for children from developing countries in need of cardiac surgery. And Yad Sarah gave him a wheelchair to take home. In the photo: Muquadam with his mother and Yad Sarah Tourism Director Nadia Alalu.

State controller and retired judge Yosef Shapira sitting in a Yad Sarah wheelchair? The answer is, surprisingly, yes and we heard the story from him at a festive evening celebrating the retirement of Jerusalem District Court President David Cheshin. "The answer is really very simple," explained Chesin." I was in Tel Aviv and I tripped on the edge of a sidewalk. Luckily, when I fell on my side, there was a wallet full of business cards in my pocket to soften my fall. When I went for an x-ray, they found a fracture, and the doctor insisted I stay off my feet as much as possible for the first 20 days or so. This would have never happened in Jerusalem."
