That was the emotional reaction of one of Yad Sarah's Haifa subscribers to the Emergency Call Center volunteer operator who contacted her to enquire about her situation. Haifa had been battling fires for days and its citizens were struggling. The staff offered to help in any way possible. * Photo from the Center in action* Yad Sarah volunteer reporter Eli Cohen was among the many Yad Sarah staff and volunteers who took it upon themselves to contact subscribers in the North.

I really feel that you care. I am very touched by your call." The subscriber at the other end of the line didn't hide her emotional reaction to the call that came unsolicited to check on her situation. The dispatcher was concerned for her as she lives in a neighborhood adjacent to where the fire was raging. Other subscribers also thanked the callers and told them they had been evacuated earlier to the homes of family members far from the dangers of the fires. The decision to call subscribers of the Call Center in the north of the country was at the initiative of its director, Nahum Gitman. Joining the effort was the staff of the Public Relations department, under the directorship of Sepideh Yom Tov. The goal was to ensure the subscribers were able to evacuate if necessary, to relieve anxiety, and to remind subscribers that Yad Sarah was at their service in times of emergency. Yad Sarah's Transportation Department offered the services of its fleet of YadSaraVans - specially fitted to transport people in wheelchairs- in the event that evacuation became necessary. Yad Sarah has much experience evacuating people with special needs in times of war and other national emergencies. In addition, it has a large stock of inhalation devices as well as oxygen balloons and concentrators that were available to those in smoke-filled affected areas. Yad Sarah remains available to those needing breathing equipment as well as all other rehabilitative equipment.
