Good news for residents of Herzliya! The Yad Sarah branch in the city has reopened after more than two years. The new branch is located at 81 Nordau Street and is open Sunday through Thursday from 10:00 to 13:00 and until 12:00 on Friday. Eighteen eager volunteers, under the leadership of branch manager Zipporah Tanami, are ready to offer Yad Sarah's special brand of warmth and dedicated service to the people of Herzliya.
The branch has a wide range of medical equipment available for borrowing: wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, oxygen tanks, inhalers, humidifiers, baby cribs, breast pumps, and more. Yad Sarah requires only a small deposit, which is refunded in full when the device is returned.
Yad Sarah also offers an Emergency Alarm Response System that connects the subscriber to the 24-hour emergency call center at Yad Sarah's main branch in Jerusalem. Volunteers at the center alert family members, neighbors, police, or an ambulance in the case of emergency. Yad Sarah recently introduced a new and innovative system worn around the neck as a pendant that will alert the center in the case of a fall, even if the wearer is immobilized and unable to contact the center.
Zipporah Tanami is full of ideas and eager to develop a range of services that will be available at the new branch. "The volunteers and I look forward to working together and offering Yad Sarah's special brand of warm and caring service to the Herzliya public. Yad Sarah is so much more than just lending wheelchairs."
More volunteers are needed in order to extend the opening hours into the afternoon. Basic computer or technical skills are required, and training will be given to suitable candidates. Call the branch at 09-741-6561 to see if volunteering at Yad Sarah is right for you.
Yad Sarah operates more than 100 branches throughout the country, with 6,000 volunteers of all ages and from all sectors of the population. In the past year, Yad Sarah has offered its services to more than half a million people. It receives no ongoing government funding and is supported almost entirely by donations from the public. In the 40 years of its existence, Yad Sarah has touched the lives of every second family in Israel.#_lt#div style="text-align#_sc# left;" dir="ltr"#_gt#
