Most days they report on the tensions in Israeli society. Terrorist incidents. Military activities. Stories about the many issues facing the State of Israel.
But, what about the social front? At the initiative of the Public Relations Department of Yad Sarah under the direction of Sepideh Yom Tov, spokesperson David Rothner, in conjunction with the Government Press Office, brought a delegation of foreign journalists – including journalists from China – for a visit to Yad Sarah House.
The tour began with greetings from Yad Sarah Director General Moshe Cohen and Communications Director Haim Shibi. From there – under the guidance of David Rothner – the group moved on to the exciting and well-illustrated path of Yad Sarah's mission in Israeli society: the visitor's center, the Yad Sarah Experience.
They met with volunteers and the professional staff at the Medical Equipment Lending Center, at the Emergency Alarm Response Center, in the Day Rehabilitation Center, in the Exhibition & Guidance Center, in the Art & Sewing Room, in the Equipment Maintenance Workshop, and more. Nadia Alalu, Director of Tourist Services, spoke to the group about the unique service provided to every tourist with a functional difficulty, asking those present to help advertise the service in order to enable every tourist with disabilities to come and visit Israel.
Salman and Samira Abu-Roqan of the Usfiya branch came especially to tell journalists about the Druze community, about the branch that serves both Druze and Jews living in the Carmel region, and about the Life Stories Project that helps connect the generations and preserve Druze customs.
The journalists enjoyed the tour very much, showed great interest in everything they saw, and were very impressed by the large number of volunteers working in the many departments of Yad Sarah.
We hope that the visitors will publicize the activities of Yad Sarah and help us expand our circle of friends and donors around the world. More importantly, we hope our visitors will convey to their readers the beautiful face of Israeli society that is so evident between the walls of Yad Sarah House in Jerusalem.#_lt#div style="text-align#_sc# left;"#_gt#
