Yad Sarah is constructing a new regional center in Ashdod to help meet the growing need in the South

The homes and schools of tens of thousands of Israeli citizens are once again threatened by missile fire. Yad Sarah quickly organized and sent extra equipment to its branches in the South to help them deal with the worsening crisis. Portable oxygen generators, folding scooters, wheelchairs, rolling walkers, rotostairs. This list of equipment, along with dozens of other items, enable disabled people to reach safe rooms more quickly. The early warning signs that the situation might become critical in the south after rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip into both Tel Aviv and the Sharon enabled Yad Sarah's transportation system to organize rapidly to equip the branches in the South of the country with an increased supply of equipment for people with disabilities. Yad Sarah volunteers are accustomed to the attacks that precede an unusually high demand for accessibility aids. Even those who routinely cope on their own are now forced to equip themselves with walking aids in order to reach the safe rooms quickly at the sound of the alarm. In the southern communities, when the alarm sounds, the time to run to protected rooms is very short, sometimes only 15 seconds. Therefore, Yad Sarah is prepared to provide the necessary equipment to help people with disabilities be as prepared as possible for a missile attack. Partially in answer to the great need in the south of the country, Yad Sarah is currently promoting the construction of a large regional center in Ashdod. A center that will coordinate services to the dozens of branches in the southern settlements and will enable us to supply all of the equipment needed. In order to protect the volunteers and our customers, the Day Rehabilitation Center and mobile dental units in Be'er Sheva will not operate on days the education system is closed. On the other hand, the equipment lending centers in all areas under fire are working to meet the needs of the residents. Call * 6444 to get an updated schedule. Yad Sarah's Emergency Call Center initiated calls to subscribers to ensure they are properly protected and can reach the safe rooms in accordance with the time determined by the Home Front Command. If the centers find problems or anxiety, they contact professionals to help solve the issues. The transportation division also works to provide a response to this population in the event of alarms and missile firings. At the same time, the children of the South are invited to a tour at the Yad Sarah Experience on days schools are closed. The Yad Sarah visitors centers in Jerusalem and Raanana are offering tours to residents of the South for free. The tours are guided and guests must book in advance by telephone.
