The spirit of "Tikkun Olam" – repairing the world – is always evident at Yad Sarah

It was a special day for good deeds at Yad Sarah, but, then, at Yad Sarah's 110 branches, every day is a day for good deeds. What set this day apart at Yad Sarah House in Jerusalem was a joint venture initiated by the Ministry of Tourism and Yad Sarah as part of "Good Deeds Day, which takes place every year in March or April." In 2018, International Good Deeds Day will be on Sunday, April 15, 2018. This day of community service was launched in 2007 in Israel by businessperson and philanthropist, Shari Arison, through Ruach Tova, a nonprofit organization that connects between people who want to volunteer and organizations in need of assistance. Its mission is to unite people from around the world in doing good deeds for others and the planet. A delegation of representatives from the Ministry of Tourism - the Tourist Experience Administration - arrived at Yad Sarah House to bring joy to the participants at the Day Rehabilitation Center. Ahuva Zaken, a volunteer in the Public Relations Department under the direction of Sepideh Yomtov made the connection. The Day Rehabilitation Center is "home" to people with disabilities – many of them elderly – who arrive each morning to participate in the center's empowering and enriching programs, including creative arts, computers, gardening, and more. After a full day at the center, which includes a hot lunch, they return to their families. The meeting brought joy and satisfaction to the guests, the staff, and especially the center's participants. They all met with representatives of the Ministry of Tourism and heard from them about their endeavors to bring tourists from abroad and the importance of tourism to Israel. In addition, representatives of the Ministry of Tourism brought the Jerusalem based children's choir "Pirchei Yerushalayim" to the event. The children performed to the enthusiastic applause of everyone present. The participants enjoyed a unique day full of surprises and even received a modest gift from the Ministry of Tourism. Thank you to all those who made the day so special and who brought so many smiles to the Day Rehabilitation Center. Photos by volunteer Eli Cohen *וידאו:3893609-hpT2WxOKHU&74-ojcN7LZkEY.mp4*
